February 14 where does the time go???
School started back up on Jan. 14th. We had our first studio assignment, we had to enter the IDEC competition again (we did it last year as well!) We paired up with the Junior Studio, most groups had 2 Juniors and one Senior per team, my team was one of each. It didn't seem as stressful as last year's, could be due to the fact that we had more to start with. Basically, what it consists of is a week of research, before we are given the exact project. So we were told to research St. Louis, Missouri, our site was located there, and also to research historic preservation. Our building was on the National Register of Historic Buildings. After 7 full days of research, we were given the parameters of the contest.

This is the website, 2009 competition, if you are interested in more info. Basically we had to design one portion of the building into a retail/community improvement type establishment, in one week. My partner and I decided to do a Youth Center/Smoothie Bar. During our research phase, we discovered that the closest youth center was in a different neighborhood(district).
They were judged locally, and three went on for regional competition. Ours was one that went on to the next level~YEAH! I have no idea when they judge that round though.
